A busy week for Hautlieu's DEC! students

On Monday, Rok led the Year 12 students on a 'walkover survey' of the two potential sites on which they can choose to design an outpatient facility, as part of their course assessment work. The team were especially delighted to see a couple of familiar faces - Michal and Chris, who came to ROKFCC JV for a work experience placement in 2021. It is great to see them continue their DEC! journey at Level 3 with Hautlieu.

Rok Managing Director, Richard De Gruchy, talked to the group about the importance of conducting a site investigation and the different site features which they need to observe and note to help them better understand the value and risks associated with each location. Rok Communications Director, Yenni Kusumo, then got the group thinking about stakeholders - the important role they play in the progress and at different stages of a project; the range of individuals, groups and organisations who could benefit or be impacted (or both) by the project; and how their interests could, at times, conflict.

On Wednesday and Friday, Richard was back 'on DEC!' but this time in the classroom and with Year 10 students, teaching them all about 'Understanding Client Needs' - a core part of every project. He engaged the group in thinking about the  wide range of client needs, depending on the scope and scale of the job, and in the context of the other stakeholders associated with the job - they often conflict and need managing and/or resolving. He also encouraged the class to discern the different dimensions of 'client', which could include: the end-users, the property/estate manager, the relevant executive branch of the government, the legal owner and so on.
