Rok team at NAWIC Jersey talk on domestic energy

Rok team members, Yenni Kusumo (Communications Director), Megan Vautier (Assistant Quantity Surveyor and NAWIC Jersey Treasurer) and Warren Kelly (Project Manager) attended an event held by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in Jersey,

On the night, Stuart Gray of Jersey Energy presented a thought-provoking talk on the how design, engineering and construction of homes in the future will be impacted by two key, drivers:

  • Inflation and cost pressures, as Europe sees the highest and fastest energy cost increases in a generation
  • Government of Jersey's commitment to its Carbon Neutral Roadmap, approved by States Assembly in April 2022

Stuart also gave us insights into how we use energy at home, how the costs are calculated and how our energy usage can impact the environment. He compared the home-energy options we knew something about, e.g., photovoltaic panels, air-source heat pumps, etc., plus an option or two about those we knew less about, e.g., electric vehicle batteries.

Thanks to NAWIC Jersey for the interesting, topical talk and networking opportunity.
