Eight Highlands students on work placements with Rok

This December, Rok welcomed eight Highlands students to its sites at Les Quennevais Health Centre and the International Finance Centre 6.

They first received a full site induction prior to starting on a five-week programme of seven hours' work on site every Thursday. Rok are committed to supporting these students, who are learning a building trade, to meet their course requirements which include 35 hours on-site work experience.

These students will learn from a variety of team members responsible for different parts of the project/site and experience a variety of Rok sites, including:

Having started on their course in September, the students will be expected to develop some key skills, under the watchful eyes of our site team, e.g., timekeeping, communication, observation, participation, the ability to follow instructions, site orientation, understanding equipment, interpreting drawings, team participation and health and safety awareness and practice.

Rok are firmly committed to investing in the future of Jersey's building industry - we look forward to welcoming another building trades group of students in January and a further two mechanical and electrical engineering groups in March and April.
